I am simply staggered how many big name brands have such appalling customer service. Recently I purchased a quite expensive DVD and Media player and upon installing the device I discovered a problem with how it operates in conjunction with the scart socket of my TV. I went on the online chat of this well known networking company and communicated with a gentleman who seemingly had no clue what I was talking about and promised to email me back. After waiting 24 hours I called the UK support number only to be connected to an Indian (I guess) call centre where I tried three times to explain to the agent what the problem was. It was blindingly simple but clearly the person I was speaking to had no idea about the product he was referring to.
After 15 minutes on the phone he went off to speak to a senior technician who then told him to tell me to update the firmware which I then pointed out that I had already told him that I had already done. He then resorted to promising to call me back shortly. I simply don't believe they will.
Who's idea was Indian call centres. I think it is an insult to your customer base and at Customer Street it helps me to learn more lessons about how not to do customer support.
I will update my blog with the progress.
