Its Rapidsite but not as we know it

I was privileged today to see the first version of our new web based Customer CMS system currently known as Customer Street Rapidsite. For over five years we have been building very search engine friendly web sites for our customers using our own software. We then send the customer a copy of the software so they can add to and update their site free of charge and as much as they like. Its been very popular with over 50,000 of these sites built.

This year we decided to upgrade the software and brought in a new member to our development team also called Stuart who was already a specialist in building web based content management systems and has a strong interest in usability. This was a significant addition to the team and I have been excitedly waiting to see the fruits of this project.

Today I got my first chance to play with the "new" Customer Street Rapidsite builder and I was pleased to see that it was simple to configure and build my first website. Whilst there are still some issues to work through I feel excited that we are getting there with our web based version of our hugely successful software.

What's exciting about this I hear you asking, well it means that we can roll out regular updates and changes to help our customers enhance their websites and getter better results and earn more from their web presence. In addition for the first time we will be able to let Apple Mac customers use the software as we only currently have a pc version.

Rapidsite has always been a pillar of usability. We always designed it to be ridiculously simple to use so that people who didn't have design skills could turn out a respectable website. Unfortunately for version 2 (the current one) it is limited by design to make pretty standard looking sites. The new version has been designed from the ground up to use the latest technologies to allow much more flexible and sophisticated designs. Now despite this new skill set, Rapidsite will still be able to let an average computer user to produce wonderful websites but in addition thanks to some very clever programming it can be easily scaled up to allow much more advanced functionality. I cant wait to encourage Stuart to roll out these features to our customers who love Rapidsite but want that little bit more from it.

Best of all, remember that Rapidsite is free. So long as you are a Customer Street customer you can use all the current features for free and enjoy the upgrades that come along. You can be sure that the Customer Street team are working hard for your needs. I am very grateful for the progress that Stuart has made so far and I cant wait to share all this work with our customer base.
