Meeting with BT about the Ufindus data

Ufindus.com contains over 2 million business records and in the main these are supplied by BT and the other main telcos in the UK. They are bound by law to keep up to date a central record of every phone number in the UK. We, along with our competitors such as Yell and Thomson Local, contribute to the cost of this process and in return get a supply of the data and then set about cleaning it up. This involves categorising each and every one of the records which is a huge undertaking. In addition we make many efforts to clean and correct the data such as checking it against the UK postcode database and adding location data.

Just imagine spending 5 minutes on each and every record and then multiplying that by 2 million. It would take you over 19 years to do this. In addition we process many thousands of updates daily including new listings, corrections and removals. Ufindus.com has one of the most up to date and accurate data sources of any directory in the UK. Just try us out against our competition and see how easy and quick you find the number with Ufindus.com against perhaps Thomsonlocal.com

On a quarterly basis we get a chance to meet with the providers of the data (along with our competitors) and try to come up with ways of making the data more accurate. Tomorrow I will attend that meeting to see what improvements have been made since the last meeting and to discuss the plan for the next three months. Its imperative from a Ufindus point of view that we are major contributors to this plan so I always attend where possible. Often I am the only contributor from the directory businesses sector as many of our competitors just don't turn up. Ufindus.com is serious about providing the very best product for our customers. We hope it reflects in our product which although simple in its aim (to provide business info) is quickly and easy to use.
